What oils is everyone running?

I have:

- M30 B34 from 1985/6 (im told it needs 15/40, im assuming mineral and not synthetic)
- CSL LSD (im told it needs an LS prefixed gear oil, of around 80-90W)
- Getrag 265/5 (5-speed) (iv been recommended SAE 75/85 or a 50/50% mix of Redline MTL with 80/90 mineral gear oil….

Thoughts/recommendations?

I run Walmart 20-50 in my '88 M30B35 motor, Walmart ATF in my 265/5 and Valvoline 75/90 in my E28 LSD rear axle.

+1 on high zinc... and you need to keep check on the formulations... they change without warning.

I've run Mobil 1 15W-15 in my 2002 and now Coupe since (about) 1988 or so. Works great for me.
I made the mistake one time of draining the oil before checking that I had the new oil (M1) to put in.
Had to put Castrol GTX 20W-50 in instead as I had it in hand. Was 'ok' - but I could tell the difference. Switched to Mob 1 as soon as I could. :)

Oh - I also add a bit of ZDDP with each change.

Rotella has a very high zinc content. The M30 motors seem to love the zinc. Also Brad Penn oil is considered tops with the older E24 guys and is high in zinc content.. Interesting thing is the only dealer for it in the Scottsdale area is a skate board shop.
