need some help to id part

I found this piece of trim in a box of older NOS BMW parts I think that it is a chrome trim piece for the rear tail lights for ( I think ) for an E12 or E28 I want to sell it but need some help to figure out what it fits Thanks in advance, Rick

My guess. 74,75,76 2002 Square Taillight trim

That would have been my guess, and I have a square-tail...but the (realoem) part number on the tape says e12...72-81,,,value about $85.
I'm really more with Vince on the visual...sure the part number is correct?

Not 100% sure on the part # It is not a 2002 square tail too long it measures 12 1/2 " at the bottom , 11 "at the top and is 7 " wide here is a picture of this one up against a 2002 little bit longer and has that flat side ( which I am assuming is the inside ? )

Well, I guess I resemble the "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing"....so, I'm trying to also learn something.....
If you google bmw e12 and go to images, the one on the right looks like yours...as the inside upright appears to be straight, not "V'd" back to match the panel, like the one on the left...I guess that's why realoem has two numbers; your number is superseded by 63211361519, the earlier one, I guess. Yours matches the one on the brown car?
