E-3's and E-9's--not incompatable
Although have far more E-9 seat experience--in the past 4 years have gained a reasonable amount of "sane seat time"--not that presented or implied by the gross "Horrify", etc portrayal of E-3 owners.
located one about 4 years ago--a one owner--retired Air Force bird colonel--example with 29,000 miles--with wife as navigator drove it from South Dakota to SoCal over the high plains of Wyoming, through mountains of Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona plus across the deserts of AZ and CA--it was a flawless drive--from 1972 -2004 its home was always in a temp controlled garage--never out in bad weather--it was/is and remains likely the "best in the west"--in flawless original--except for re-paint of the metallic Baikal finish--now with 36.800 miles. The car is in concour condition throughout--under-carriage included. It is for sale and should be in a collection.
had renewed another very original one owner E-3 that was neglected after a cracked cylinder head--direct result of the old style fan clutch failure. it had sat for 3 or so years and the motor siezed--so had to replace same with freshly built 3.2L with mild cam. now still very original except for non-matching numbers--is rust free with original Sahara paint and all interior surfaces and bright work in super condition--i could be persuaded to part with this car if someone needs an E-3 to keep their E-9 and 2002 company.
