M30 Head Assembly Question

The old rocker shafts used screw in plugs on the exposed ends and aluminum plugs on the inside ends. My BMW replacements just have aluminum plugs on the out ends and an open hole with no threads on the inside ends. Is some kind of plug needed for the inside ends? My old parts manual shows both ends plugged like the original shafts.
Different part of the engine but the same general question. Does the crank have in machining plugs that should be replaced on a rebuild? I know Alfa engines do and they can let go and lose your oil pressure, if they are not replaced.

Thanks, Gerald

BMW apparently decided that plugging the inboard ends of the rocker shafts was not necessary. I just pull apart a later model head from a 535i and only the outboard ends were plugged. The intake side had outboard, Al plugs like the new shafts I have, but the exhaust still had threaded outboard plugs, but with allen heads.
