I will look for them. It is an amazing event for sure. Really nice people and epic cars. I can’t wait. I’m excited to drive the BMW for this trip as I have not been driving terribly much since I got the Ferrari. I fell back in love with the BMW Already.

I had an expert take a drive in my car and evaluate it to see if it needed anything. They also had a mechanic on site that was able to tune my carburetors and make it run 100% better. This event is awesome. By the way, this guy is, amazing. I will post some more information about him shortly. He is located in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Scott,
Glad someone who is a real mechanic got hands on your car. The things he said are carb "101" that anyone who works on older cars should understand. Heck, dual carbs were even used on American cars in the 1960's/70's.

Suggest you buy these 2 things, throw them in your "E9 special tools" bin, and take them to your local mechanic when your carbs need adjustment (check it every 24k miles or 2 years):
Adapter: Weber DGV adapter
and this meter: Synchrometer
These, a flat blade screwdriver, and a working ear (1 is sufficient) are all you need to tune up a set of Webers.

Given the lack of intelligent classic-car mechanics in your neck of the woods, maybe you can try a shop that works on older l motorcycles. Anyone worth his/her salt with old motorcycles will understand what it means to synchronize a pair of carbs and will know how to use these 2 things. Folks who are familar with old carburetor equipped Porsches should also be capable.

John

@JFENG thanks I will order both those items and hopefully find someone to figure it out as needed. The car is running 100% better than it was on my drive down. I fell in love with it all over again.

Here is a small portion of my day yesterday shot in 360 in 4K. You can move around with your fingers and see any view.
. MY BABY handled like a champ, and EVERYONE loved her. She was in great company as you can see. Surprised so few (only 3) BMW’s participating. I was running with a 74 2002 Turbo. We seemed to have about the same power as we were running at the same pace. I was instructed that it was ok to redline my engine, and floor it, both of which I had never ever done. I feel very lucky to have participated in this epic event. I hope to do it every year, if they will invite me back. There’s a long waiting list and only got in this year since others dropped out at the last minute and I was able to do it. I have tons more videos, but not sure if I will post/edit for some time.

Scott, your enthusiasm for your Coupe and other fine automotive machinery is infectious and appreciated. What you have shared here, in the Copperstate videos, remind us of why we love driving our Coupes. The session with the Maserati specialist who knew his way around Weber carburetors, was priceless. Thank you for filming and sharing. Mike

I am super honored. Literally perhaps the best time of my life. Met some great people and fell back in love with my BMW, along with vintage cars, generally. The caliber of cars here was off the charts as you can tell. Apparently, it is very difficult to get into this event, and I got very lucky. I won the rookie of the year award, which is kind of a big deal I gather. I suspect I will be welcome back next year. Today for 100 miles or so. I got to drive side-by-side with a 3.0 CSL Batmobile and 2002 turbo. I got epic video. I will try to edit and present soon along with some other videos. If you ever have an opportunity to do these rallies, I highly recommend it. Amazing.
