I met the coolest guy the other night!...

I stopped by a vacant commercial property the other night when I saw the door open, hoping to talk to the owner about selling. Turns out, the owner is a guy named Edgar, 72, who I think is originally from Greece based on our conversation, and has been in the Sacramento area for quite some time. After talking about what I do for a living, he starts talking about being the first BMW salesman in the Sacramento area back in the 60's! There was a one-car showroom owned by a guy named Hans and Edgar sold 1600's and 2002's. He said he thought it was a combination of his driving ability and his accent that helped sell the cars. :cool: I told him I have three 2002's right now, along with a couple CS's and he started laughing. Small world.

He told me to stop by anytime, so I plan on hearing more stories. He's using one of the buildings for his own use and said he always has a cold beer in the fridge. Cool!

Dang, that is so cool. Beer hey............

But here it is anyway;

Its NOT a ti, so disregard the badge which will be thrown over the nearest fence, owner said that original badge was stolen a few times and he got 2002ti badge when on overseas holiday. Story checked out.

Cheers

I've owned an 02 since 81. My first was a 75 Euro spec sahara 1802. Now I have a 74 sahara tii. In 98, I bought a 73 Bavaria. I didn't get into to coupes, I got into E3's, how sick is that. A sure sign I'm a sick puppy. Here's my current E3, a 70 Euro spec 2800. http://www.coupeking.com/product_id-407.html
Happy birthday to my car, it turns 40 today.

Here's what Andreas at Mobile Tradition told me about my E3.

The BMW 2800 VIN 2308632 was manufactured on December 18th, 1969 and delivered on March 12th, 1970 to the German BMW dealer Stapelmann in Dusseldorf. The original colour was Granada, paintcode 023.

Do not toss the Tii on the rear, if it is an eary 2002 tii part, they are tough to get, I know, I had to refurbish one on mine!

Me Too

I started with a 2002 back in 1979 and then a 1972 e9 appeared and that's really what I had always wanted so I added the coupe. Then a couple of years back a friend that already had a coral of BMW's offered me a 2002tii that has been a garage queen for the past 20 years or so. I had what I wanted but the car was really nice so I ask my wife if she was interested and to my great pleasure her response was "damn right" and so now I've jointed ranks of having both and we’re one big happy family.
