I bought some rear window trim off Craterface and when comparing it to the one on my car and another set I got from a parts car there is quite a variation in the fit and size of these pieces, which leads me to believe this end of the production was totally hand fitted.

Here is a shot of the ends of them and overall length of the pieces.

All three were ground differently at their ends

Even more surprising is the difference in width on these parts.

From. 84 of an inch

To .95 "

I think I will have to grind down the tip of my new one to fit and use my gentlest hammer!

Thanks for posting, I guess this makes the case for rechroming what is on our cars now.

Makes sense now why Stan and I had a heck of a time installing the passenger side piece, it seemed too long even though it came off of his coupe.

Seeing how these coupes were assembled at the factory 40+ years ago really gives you an appreciation for even the most modest modern car's fit & finish.
