I may have a couple of good ones, pretty sure they don't fit our cars but anyone know who might want one??

I think these are G-260's, they are 5 speeds out of 1986 535i's I think??

Thanks

They won't fit a Coupe?

I think the 260 is a preferred OD 5 speed for an M20/M30 swap into a 2002 ? I have one in the stash, as well...

I am interested in this as well, as there is a perfectly good E34 260/6 attached to the back of the M30B35 that is going into my Coupe sometime in the next year.

There are 260/5's and 260/6's, btw, and I've read the /5 is problematic.

I know conventional wisdom is to go with a 265 and I already have one so I may go that route. But if the 260/6 fits in the tunnel and I need to adapt a few things then I may just do that.

The 265 Getrag was first used in the 1980 BMW 528i and continued to be used in all 5/ 6/ & 7 series BMW models up to and including 1982. In 1982 the BMW 325e had the Getrag 260 and the following year all BMW 6 cylinder models got the 260 up until 1985. These early 260 transmissions were a bit problematic. In 1985 BMW made an unusual move, they switched back to the Getrag 265 in the 5/ 6/ & 7 series. All, 1986 models got a revised 260 Getrag. The 325e/i all used the 260 Getrag but when BMW came out with the E30 / M3 they once again went back to the Getrag 265. BMW going back to the Getrag 265 at two later dates, indicates they believed in the 265.

The 265 Getrag uses brass shift forks that never wear out. The operating sleeves have symmetrical teeth, along with the gear engagement teeth. Because the 265 was used in more mainstream models, it’s much easier to find rebuildable transmission cores."
