For Sale: 1972 BMW Bavaria – No Engine or Trans, otherwise complete/included – Dulles, VA

I am selling my '72 Bavaria project, hopefully someone will have the time to finish it and enjoy it. All it needs to run and drive is an engine and trans (came with a 3.0 liter M30 and a 4 speed manual trans). It is a 'stripper' model; no sunroof, no radio, no rear sway bar, no a/c, and no power steering.

I have almost all of the other original parts needed to make it run:
  • currently installed: front subframe (was removed, painted and installed), steering system, rear subframe, rear diff, suspension and control arms. Also has new Kumho tires on the original wheels. It rolls and steers very easily. Ireland Engineering all-aluminum radiator. Front right caliper was replaced. Ireland Engineering poly engine mounts

  • Included, but not installed: red 5 blade cooling fan, original oil pan, brake booster and master cylinder, axles shafts & hardware, driveshaft, exhaust system, original alternator, starter, crank pulley, distributor, washer bottle & pump, trans cross-member, front lower timing cover, 12 rocker arms, Ireland Engineering (IE) extended wheels studs & nuts, IE poly trailing arm bushings, Momo steering wheel adapter, OEM trans mount (rubber), new distributor cap, rotor & wires, new Bosch blue coil, original thermostat housing and some heater hoses, original expansion tank & new cap, new upper & lower silicone radiator hoses, tons of original misc hardware
The paint is in OK shape, fine for a nice driver. Interior is in good shape, driver's seat is worn. Very little rust (see pics). I just don't have enough time with my other projects. If I find a good 3.0l engine and trans, I plan to put them in to make this run and drive. It is currently stored in my shop in Dulles, VA. Im pretty open to show the car.

Please email me at [email protected] if you have any questions or need additional info.

Man...I like it... I'm knee deep in my E3 resto and, unfortunately, if I bought this it would be a 'combining into one' type of situation..this one would probably be the winner in that scenerio..:) I'm from Fairfax, and my family is all back in the Stafford area, close to you. Damn tempting...

Did you sell the e3? I saw the rust on the drivers side underside...what else of consequence? I have a e9 parts car whose engine was good (when parked several years ago..), and a 5 speed destined for my good e9 that has a rebuilt 4 speed in it currently, so its very tempting. I'm in western NC. Thanks,
Dave V.
