As I prepped for paint....
Left side drilled at the ends for castellated nut & cotter pin.
Right side isn’t.
Teilekatalog shows only holed ones for all years.

I’ve read the long/short control arm thread, are there similar e3 or other rods that may have inadvertently been used? Maybe by an unknowing P.O. or his shop?

Maybe a later changeover to nylock nuts not reflected in the parts book?

#1 in picture, obviously.

the same on my blue coupe... as i just renewed #'4,7,8 and 9 both sides i have ofcourse seen it . Left is with cotter pin, right is nylock.
I must add , right side was also M48 strut... ( left M50) , so the later strut of a 6 series... perhaps a accident in the past .... ???

BMW doesn’t sell them with holes anymore, don’t when it changed but shouldn’t make a difference, coupes use the shorter control arm and tension strut.
