Fruit of my labour; for sale one wooden e9 steering wheel.

restored:
- 3 original NOS chrome rear caps. absolutely perfect chrome.
- 3 reproduced front caps, in stainless steel.
- freshly sanded wood, with repairs to veneer made. (see pictures)
- 3 hairline cracks in bakelite on front
- bakelite is glossy, but has wear (scratches)
- painted in automotive exterior quality clearcoat.

Pictures show honest condition; I've tried to show all in worst lighting camera angle as I could.

Proceeds will go towards getting the steel carcass that currently resides in my shed on the road...

Are the reproduced front caps in stainless steel visually the same as the NOS chrome rear caps?

Hi all,

- the reproduced front parts are not 100% identical: they have a slightly different colour reflection, less blue then real chrome. surface is a tad less shiny. attached some comparative pics. But if you know me, you know i am very (too?) precise. You won't be able to tell the difference between the chrome rear ones and the stainless steel front ones, when at arms reach: where the front and rear parts meet each other is at the sides of thee spoke, and its just 3 mm. because of the angle and being at arms length, it is hardly visible.
in pic 104135 you can see originals (chrome and satin, depending on build year/model) and handmade ones: front to back: 2 original satin chrome, then 2 original chrome, quite blue reflection, then 5 handmade stainless steel.

- No horn pad unfortunately.
- shipping to US (mainland) +75 Euro.

Just checked weight and shipping rates to be exact, to mainland via ups insured is 35 euro's. (Instead of 75 euro written earlier).

those reproduction parts look great.
I would recommend finding a center pad as it will make sale of a complete unit easier.

Markos that is wonderfull.

I purchased the wheel without the centerpad, so i guess the wheel will be happy to be reunited after so many years.

This type of wheel was on the 1973 3.0 CS I bought in 1975. I assume therefore it was a standard item, as the car was essentially stock in every way when I bought it (might have been an optional upgrade at that time, but I have no question about it being the OE wheel).

A very fair deal for this wheel. I’m surprised it is still for sale. They are quite pretty in person IMO.
