On the new thermostat that I'm installing I was told to drill a 1/4 inch hole to prevent air bubbles; where do you drill that hole?

Thanks!

Hi Peter... I believe it's at the highest point possible when thermostat is positioned in its housing. Like 1:00 position on the flat inset surface of the thermostat to allow air to seep through from one side to the other. Someone can confirm this to be correct... I think there's also another posting where someone highlighted the right spot!

a 2mm hole at 12:00
be careful to drill it in the place of the sleeve that will be touching the water, not in the part of the sleeve that is in contact with the gasket

see the tiny hole here,

position is not correct as it is shown on the pic, but you can see the hole

Armed and dangerous

Now that I have pictures and a full explanation of exactly why I am doing what, I feel at least one master's degree smarter! This coupled with the explanation of the multi-purpose chrome wheel moldings puts me way ahead of where I was when I did not know what a Roundel was... Seriously!

Thanks everyone,

Peter C
