Yep... that’s the shorter 2002 hub fitted with the horn contact ring. I had assumed that all 2002 hubs have the plunger pins. Well, you learn s9mething new every day. Think you have the 2002 hub on the far left as on this pic posted by Markos on the other Petri thread.

Look what showed up at my place today from a good friend up North. I will be needing a hub cover and horn button. Petri is a 40 which I will recover.

Hi Chris,

Glad you have joined the Petri party. Replied to your PM. Your best bet is to get the coupeguy hub cover and look to German eBay for the genuine Petri horn button. Have you checked with fellow members Keshav and John P? They maybe able to help you. You can also fit a standard MOMO button with slight modifications.

Getting sucked backed into the minutiae...

The Petri hub part number stamped on the hub matches the last seven of the BMW part number for the e fire Petri wheel assembly. BMW doesn’t list the hub separately. There are two numbers for the 2002 wheels, the foam 35 and the foam 38. @teahead has the part number for the 2002 foam 38. Since the hubs are tied to the wheel, as Bert points out there are actually four or five (edit: six) distinct Petri hubs. With that said I think that there are three physical hub sizes, just like Goldie Locks and the Three Bears. Which one is right for you? :)

Thanks in advance for letting me borrow some member pics (also from 2002faq).

380mm 2002 Petri ending in 120:
This one supersedes 738 in realoem even though 738
is a CS hub and 120 is a 2002 hub. The site bread crumbs will take you back to a CS:

Part numbers on various Petri hubs and what size wheel and model they go with. Last 7 digits of complete part #’s, disregard the .1 at the very end. These numbers and wheels are factory reference info for specific models, but obviously they can be bought back then from BMW to mount on any model as you deem fit. Have not been able to find an image of the “192” unit.

1112244- 38cm leather wheel as fitted only on CSL.
1109738- 40cm foam wheel as fitted on e3 and e9 models.
1109739- 38cm foam wheel as fitted on various 2002s. Believe this particular hub is fitted with a horn
contact ring in place of the plunger pin. Believe this hub is the same height as the 35cm units. Due to some new info, I could be wrong in my assumption of the contact ring. Need to do more investigation.
11113192- 35cm foam wheel with horn plunger pin.
1109740- same as above. Probably superseded above also.

Markos you are the man! We are so close to the enigma of petri:confused:
I also have the same hub & cover as yours Teahead, but to be true i don't care about it, because it genuine bmw, era correct & fit perfect; my car will be not 100% original anyway (getrag 265, w&n stainless exhaust, w&n radiator etc, etc.).
Notice the holes all around on my hub.
And one more thing - i don't know if anybody noticed, but Petri discussions are like 50% of all discussion on e9coupe forum in last month.:p

My petri hub ends in 201, must I now live in exile? I too could also do with a hub cover if Chris sorts one out first

Damn if that makes six! This is fun though. The thing about realoem is that you can always get to the part from the part number, but you can’t always get to the part number from the diagrams. Sometimes they blatantly exclude the part from the legend even though the diagram an arrow and a legend number, and sometimes they just don’t show it at all in the diagram or the legend.

This hub supersedes the hub ending in 738. That makes six distinct hubs. I’ll update my post.
