Crankshaft pulley 2800CS

we started a rally today and our crankshaft pulley decided to leave the car…. :(

so i see a bare crankshaft top ….. no pulley , no damper .

Now i don't see those items at W& N besides the nut … are those NLA ?

thanks for tips !

Assume they are thrown away on a regular basis around the world.

perhaps yes, if i could catch one :D

now this is the blue 2800 CS from 70.... with matching engine. Are pulley/damper from later models the same ?

Ok, i found ( cheap) complete M30 engines , but would have preferred at least a new damper.... do they exist anymore ?

thanks Don , my BMW dealer has a old motor laying around and will demount the pulley tomorrow. Hope it's the same crankshaft flange….

funny thing about that pulley- its holes are NOT symmetric nor is the dampener/crank hub.
You must index it correctly or you won't get all 8 bolts in.

correct Don , very strange. Damper to hub has ofcourse the pin and pulley has a very small hole that index with the pin location. All due balancing i think , i even see balancing weights on the pulley. Install finished ( thanks BMW dealer for the special tool to torque the central nut ) , but new belts didn't match... we got it from a more recent engine and some year ? BMW enlarged the diameter of the pulley to increase fan/waterpump speed to avoid heating standing still….
no problem , just other belts to look for.
