hi all

Attended Bicestor scramble this weekend in England , UK

Amazing event again. !!

Looked like more cars attended this year than last , all makes , models , old & new

I saw 3 csl’s , 1 Csi , 3 csa cars only !!!

Car came out of storage, last week , mechanic gave it a clean bill of health and she drove like a dream

Motorway police gave me some advice , on the hard shoulder
keep a eye on the speedometer , do not exceed 80mph!!!
He said I was doing 110mph,
Free flowing traffic and I thought I was doing 70 mph !!!
Good to meet two nice police officers who are not all about giving tickets out !!

If the officers where under 40 yrs old, I would of got banned and a court appearance!!!

These 2 nice officers were in their late 50’tees liked classic cars and one once owned a triumph stag 20yrs ago !!!

Excellent, I thought that was your red CSL with the wing, yes?

Looks superb, credit to you. Mine was the Chamonix CSL with the child car seats in the back. I came back to the car a few times to catch up but missed you unfortunately

Really good family event, well attended.

Who's your mechanic?

The red mint Csl is owned by forum member daddywad....
one of the best Csl cars in the world !!!!

My dads friend is the mobile mechanic , use him for Servicing the car doing the basic jobs ie fluid changes , replace brake pads etc etc

Anything technical on the E9 , car is taken to the expert .. Noel at Autokraft , Solihull

You car was the white Csl with the plastic rear bumper??
Loads of people taking photos of it, every time I was near the bmw stand
Friend of mine viewed this car at ML, he was negotiating the purchase price with the garage over a few weeks , then the garage Informed him they had sold it, full asking price.
Lucky you and unlucky for my mate

ooops, my error. Daddywad's is a very very minty CSL, looks like a much loved car. Which was yours then, the other Chamonix CSL? I only saw those two E9s

yes, the white CSL with the lightweight rear bumper and the chin spoiler was me, purchased from ML last August. And no, there was not much room for negotiation with Dan on that, think I might have got a free coffee....

I was keen to see your stereo set-up, I'm looking at this right now (as the 80s Blaupunkt in the car is non-functional) and I read on an old post that you had dash tweeters and a sub in the boot (IIRC)

My stereo set up is simple...

Tweeters. On the front dash
Mid range speakers in the doors and rear shelf
Portable Base box in the boot ...

Am attending the flywheel event at Bicestor and Gaydon this year ,
If you are their , I will show you the set up and see what you think

My mate regrets not buying the Csl you own now ..
I told him today , I saw it at Bicestor... looking great ...
he was not very happy lol

Cool, likely I will be at Gaydon. Catch you there hopefully. Simple is good, stereo unlikely to be used much anyway, but a quick blast of highway to hell is sometimes just right

Dan sold me a good car, very solid all round (touch wood), but plenty to do. I've been busy!
Clutch was a problem, headlights were an electrical mess, windows are still a bit temperamental. Need to address fuelling and seatbelts next. Your mate will need to be quicker next time!

and I thank you very much for that! I am all too familiar with the embarrassment of push starting a classic. I've now fitted a "lights-on" buzzer to avoid the same

I am sorry to have missed a longer chat. My family decided last minute that they'd like to come along also, which was great, but somewhat limiting. Hopefully another time. I think your car is simply stunning. My own CSL has been looked after well, but often, I suspect, not with original parts. I'd love to catch up and hear the story of your car, and do a compare and contrast on the fixtures etc. to see what I need to source to make mine more original (such as the screws in the interior, etc.)

Who did your resto? IIRC you're only just down the road in Burnham.

Hi Drew, I coordinated my resto and did as much as I dare myself but went to the best specialists for body, engine and interior. PBCM did the body, they are superb and Paul there knows CSLs inside out. I think he's on his 6th or 7th now so he knows his way.

give me a call and meet up or i'll see you at one of the shows. There is one coming up in Naphill that I think the club are attending. Its at the crick in Naphill on 10th June.

...Hi Mark, I was tempted to have a look at the PBMC website ...just amazing workmanship . The Merc 300se that I saw looked a basket case from a rust perspective but enjoyed outstanding fabrication work. Really envy people that have the talent to do this sort of stuff. BTW, your car is fabulous too. Cheers, Simon
