Im looking to buy 6 new window switches for my 1974 e9 (so the later version with the 5 pins).
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the 633 window switch (upto 08/1977) $50
A61311361305
The e12 e3 e9 (post 1973) window switch A61311356006. $87.

As the e24 basically took over from the e9 as BMW’s flagship coupe, I’m wondering if BMW used the same switches but changed the serial number? Does anybody know if there is a difference?

Look it up on Real Ohm with a part number.

As you can see they are 2 different part numbers.
Realoem tells you which car they are suited for, however A61311356006 stopped being used in 07/1977 by the bmw 2002tii whereas A61311361305 was introduced in 05/01/1977 (as you can the see they over lap). The switches look identical. So if anyone knows If the switches are the same I’d be very interested to know

Sassy! I like that.

Allan! I am sorry I have to go to these, other threads to see anything by you.
MYbe YOU WANT TO SWAP coupes WITH ME! Do you have any idea how hard it is to COMMENT IN ALL CAPS on a phone or iPad.... seriously tho...I am just joking about the caps. I would swap my Coupe for yours in a heart beat...Your motor engine s probably more expensive than my whole car.
Now back to the regularly scheduled programming.
No more posting during happy hour...

Hi Peter, if you don't want to pay brand new price, I have 6 used one in storage. If interested I can take pictures.

Thanks for the offer, but I don’t have a problem paying for brand new prices, my concern here is that two items are identical but with different serial numbers. This seems to have taken place when the e9, e3’s and e10’s were phased out and the e24’s, e23 and e21’s were introduced.
I’ve put an order in for new window switches so I’ll be able to see if they are the same items.
Cheers

Hi Peter
Just wondering if you were able to find out if the 2 part numbers were the same?

Sorry Frankie, I didn’t end up buying the newer ones. However it would be very good to know if they are the same or different. Perhaps someone on the forum may know the answer now?

Those are the ones you need, pins on the back and a smooth rocker switch.
Chris--My switches are not the rocker type. They look like the pic on the left, which is a momentary switch which must be held forward or backwards to power the motors. The rocker switch must be the same--held forward for up and backwards for down. I guess you have to unzip the shift boot to see the terminals.

Yes, same action, early switch has spades, later one has round pins and a receptacle in the harness. Just unzip the zipper.
