Have you contacted Ireland Engineering? They are in the Los Angles area.
They used to sell long studs and they will at least know what you are asking for.
2000CS locks/keys are not shared with E9s. They are shared with the NK sedans and maybe with 1600/2002s. The trunk keys are different from the ignition and door lock keys.
I think there is no steering wheel lock. You should be able to check this on your car easily. If the key is out and...
There are (were?) 2 different diameter tail pipes depending on whether the car was a 2800 or 3.0. The parts books show the 3.0 pipes as 55mm. I think the 2800 pipes were 50mm.
I think the smaller diameter 2800 exhaust system parts have long been NLA.
Contact Carl Nelson of LaJolla Independent. I think he has has some of this work done in the past, like plating hood and fender 'grills'.
There are two types of "chrome plating" for plastics. One only works on interior parts and is not very durable.
Most car covers are made by Covercraft, but they only sell them through resellers. Their best cover is called Weathershield HP and they are very good. I have several. I buy mine through Big Sky Car Covers http://www.bigskycarcovers.com/our-products/covercraft-custom-car-covers/
The...
I can't imagine how you could just swap parts. The E28 suspension design is very different from the E9 and and the E28 track is a lot wider than the E9.
I only know of one E9 that has this conversion, a black E9 that got a complete drivetrain/suspension/brakes conversion from an E28 M5. I...
Chris, I have the eE3 orange parts books. There are a lot of E3 VIN sequences! Rather than list them all, I'm just going to answer your question.
BMW did not use 228xxxx VINs at all for E3s according to the parts books lists.
Generally it looks like BMW used VINs beginning with 2 for 2500s...
My big gripe about the Ramflows is that the foam filter elements deteriorate pretty quickly. I think they filter ok.
They should give you maximum intake noise!
This is true for the panel that goes between the tail lights on 2000 coupes, but the body side moldings are all aluminum. I have several sets of both 2000 coupe and E9 side moldings and they are all aluminum.
2000CS VINs and production numbers by model
With the engine and body VINs matching, I think you can feel pretty confidant that your car is a 2000CS. My 67 2000CS has the same printed VIN tag saying 2000 C. What counts are the stamped VINs.
Your car's VIN begins with 110 which is correct for...
Can you weld?
The 2800CS parts have smaller pipes and only fit if you have the whole system. Probably moot as they are probably NLA. At least they were for many years.
You can use the vented brake calipers and rotors, but the swing arms won't work. The calipers are only 'bigger' in that they use vented rotors which are thicker than the solid rotors.
