    Automatic transmission fluid

For a 72, coupe, what type of fluid should be used for automatic transmission? The manual has outdated info. I did a search here and found one thread from 2011 saying Dextron/Merc. Is this correct? For those who have an auto-tran, what do you use? Thanks for the info

    Power Steering issue

Ohmess, Two questions, 1. Is "redilne" a brand name? Never seen it. I would shop for fluid at a Advance Auto Parts. When you "bleed" do I have to unscrew anything to let air/fluid out? In other words is it like when you bleed the brakes? Thanks.

    Power Steering issue

Is it better to use a generic Power steering fluid i.e. Prestone or ATF. I've seen threads where ATF is used. Is ATF better? If ATF what type/brand? I had loud "sqealing" when steering in a parked position. Thought it was the Vane pump, where belt is attached. Changed it with a spare I...

    Shifter Console

Several years ago, for a coupe I no longer own, I had bought an aluminum door kick plate at Home Depot, about $20?. It is about the same color and thickness. Cut it to the correct size then made the holes for the window switches with a Dremel and box cutter (for the corners of the switch holes)...

    vapor lock question

Thanks Lloyd for all the info. To answer your question, both times it happened, yesterday and 2 months ago the outside temperature was 90+. Both times it happened after I had driven the car for about 45 minutes then parked for 1/2 hour. Get back to the car, it started right up and then stalled...

    vapor lock question

Is the mechanical and electric fuel pump an either/or? That is, can I install an electric fuel pump in the trunk and keep the fuel lines hooked to the mechanical pump? I'm asking because if I don't use the car for a week or so it takes a while for the fuel to reach the carburetors with the...

    vapor lock question

Is there a way to get rid of gas vapor lock immediately or do you need to wait it out until everything cools down? For example, would disconnecting the fuel line between the fuel pump and carburetors and starting the car release the vapor lock? This is the second time it happened in so many...

    AC switch and capillary tube

AC temperature control switch Bought this several months ago. It's exactly what we have in the coupe. It works for me. Turns on compressor/aux. fan. The only difference I could observe is the thread for the chrome ring. You'll need to use the brass ring you see or rethread the chrome one...
