Hello! Come celebrate with me that "Das Coupe" (1972 3.0CS) is currently being groomed to be driven this spring! Todd, the trusty Master Technician, found while looking over the braking system several very concerning things. The coupe sat most of the year 2023 due to our health issues and the...
The repair is all done. Apparently I "hired" the right team of my son-in-law ('88 M5 owner) and his Dad. The key they thought was using a suction cup we had to remove bulbs from track lightening we have in the garage which held it in place while the nuts were secured. It didn't take any time...
Adding to the continuing saga of the tach that needs to be reattached, my son-in-law is here to assist on this repair. We are not certain how the under panel is removed to the right of the steering wheel. Hopefully we do not have to remove the side console panel?
I have a feeling that this has been discussed but just in case: there is a very nice collection of parts on BaT. The seller did take much time to lay the offerings out nicely so you can see what is included. At 2,100.00 right now with a few days left on the auction. I bet the $$ will go crazy...
My multiple BMW owner son-in-law came over for lunch with his family and looked at the pictures and then the car. We'll see if we can collaborate further later on. He said the same thing about the great help the net is, as his 88 M5 board is so helpful for him too. What did we do in the old...
Drew,
In looking at the pictures (very valuable BTW thank you very much) I would like to verify that the cluster picture on the red shop rag showing the back side of the gauges. the gauge with the most wires coming out of it on the left is the gas/temp gauge and the one on the other end is the...
Lastly I guess the brain teaser is what screw fit that L shaped bracket? I bet mine is lost, I really don't remember seeing one on the carpet along the years but my memory is very "slippery" these days......
I now feel more confident as I know what it looks like behind the cluster. This forum is such a valuable resource but it would be nothing without the knowledgeable members that care to spend the time to send posts to people they have never met. A big thank you shout out to all of you!
It does appear that they are long rods. Not sure why they would have let go now 30 years after the restoration. Thank you for the picture, that surely does help.
Luckily it is caught up in what is behind it but it definitely looks terrible and not secure. My trusted technician worked with it awhile being careful not to force any of the old materials. He says that there were 2 rods that hold it to the bezel, they are too long for him to insert back...
May I offer what happened to me while attending O'Fest? I do have triple side draft webers, I removed the inspection caps on the top of the carbs for detailing prior to the event. I thought I was super careful to replace the gasket properly then put back on each cap. It will burp and cough...
Big shout out to Avery Wise for his first place win in the preservation class! And Don Bower placing in the European class.
Good job! The Hofmeister kink rules.
I think it is quite nice looking. Thank you for posting as I did not realize that the tank had a sticker. Mine was painted black at one time. Do you think that the engine heat will work on the sticker and dry it out? That might be what happened to mine and the car living in the south.
I bet that is what was meant. But I challenge myself to get stuff done and enjoy each victory. I often tease others that you can tell an auto enthusiast when you have dinner with folks and smell like exhaust as your clothes were in the trunk on the way to the event. I do hope that these new...
I have entered in the Super Clean class which is all except the underside (pretty nutty). Plus it is a good time to get that little thing done. Believe me, Wayne (the husband) is steering clear when I get like this.........
