It was great to have you guys come down and join in on the fun. Your car certainly deserved to be up front stage that evening. Lots of great scenery, conversations and especially cars. Seemed like the time was too short to get everything in but it was a great time. These are some great photos...
I keep expecting substantial changes to the plumbing code addressing fixture calculations being clouded by the current gender neutrality policies.
"Primary Bedroom" in a new one on me, but I haven't done any residential work in quite some time.
We are getting way away from our classic BMWs here.
Watching this thread with interest.
I just want to provide a friendly reminder of the importance to clear those blind head bolt holes prior to reinstalling the head. Subsequent cracked blocks are not uncommon if this practice is not followed.
From the pictures, this looks like it could be a great buy. If the wheels are 16s and not 415s (I am not able to tell from these photos) and if it has its original close ratio transmission. Lots of good boxes are checked off here. It might even have a limited slip differential. It would be the...
I have worked with these folks in Southern California for speciality plating also.

Small shop and good to work with.
Auto spellcheck is really frustrating sometimes, but without it you likely wouldn’t be able to understand anything I am trying to get across.
So far, I have been presently surprised at how well even the most rudimentary version of Motronic functions on our engines.
Rek,
I have an first series Moronic 1.0 e12 base car that is quite original. On it, one of the ports goes directly to the fuel pressure regulator. The other port goes to a tee that splits between the PCV port and the vapor canister. Hope this helps.

I’m with you Markos (I think my phone’s spell check didn’t rewrite your name this time!). I couldn’t resist temptation to pick up a couple e12 based euro projects. This BMW thing is getting addicting. Luckily my wife is very understanding.
Thanks for the photo. From here, it doesn’t look like the BMW engineers wanted me remachining their new sprocket to match the old pump.
What is the logic behind the stamped pickup bracket other than limiting the number of extraneous pieces and hardware?
I appreciate the information from both Lloyd and Don on this. I am a little confused with Don’s reference to the stamped not cast stand off. My engine has a cast iron bracket at the center (#4) main bearing cap then flat sheet metal bracket attaches to the oil pick up casting. Is this the...
I am in the process of freshening up a fairly low mileage m90 and have run into a conundrum. The only information that I have been able to locate about shimming the oil pump seems to refer to new a new chain and sprocket and says to shim the pump up until the drive chain deflects slightly under...
Too bad you are not on this side of the continent. I bought my nephew a $400.00 car that he is driving and bringing back to life. He would dearly love that rear deck lid and various interior pieces.
Interesting. Definitely a series one car but has a series two rear bumper. The induction runners are L-jet but the distributor is Motronic. If seriously considering, might be good to check That vin number and block number match. Late first series 635s equipped with early Motronic were still M90...
Ever since Jim came up with the head gasket set for my m90 project, he has been my go to guy for bmw engine parts. I find him professional and a wealth of information. Of course, there are some who think I can be a little rough to deal with.
