    Coolant leak

Spent last couple months refurbing tranny. Installed last week however noticed two coolant leaks one up front below crank pulley and one flowing down oil pan. As the car has not had the engine running for a couple months surmise this is not a high pressure leak. Before dismantling the entire...

Been pondering the 123 upgrade. Below are photos of the Mallory cap and rotor note the rotor has plenty of corrosion on the center contact. Although the dual point original was adequate it took some fussing to get the dwell and timing on spot. This Mallory distributor was an upgrade 25 years...

Yes Sir! Took the E9 out after a final tune today. Temp 83 H 90 with middle son Jeff PHD teacher. He got his eyes wide open on the back roads taking the freeway home with the hundreds of FIPS heading into MI, can attest we got up to 120 MPH in G5 SHORTLY! Thank goodness smokey bear was not...

Attached is a photo of the various positions of the linkage used to determine best location to preclude sticking. Slightly bent the throttle bracket on the carbs to provide add clearance to intake manifold both have to be identical. By moving the adjuster toward engine it eliminated the over top...

    Weber advice

I have the post on sticking, my solution was different but effective. To my thinking the linkage was too linear to the throttle arm on the carbs which caused an almost locked situation (sticking). By removing the engine throttle linkage modified the hole location on each arm to allow for free...

    Weber Linkage 38/38

Now I have the car properly timed thanks to you all at the Forum, I tried to sync the carbs and found that the rearward card throttle plate on drivers side is slightly lagging (see photo) if I slightly manually move the rear linkage that throttle plate matches the other three for sync.. Not sure...

Yes the linkage is a tricky item, converted first to 32/36 Webers pretty straight forward bit of monkeying, recently converted to 38/38 a whole different set of linkage issues. Had to make several modifications as they were sticking closed and once has enough pedal pressure all heck broke loose...

    Timing Considerations

I'll check at 1700 RPM for Z the 3.5 L flywheel does not have balls just hash marks. Guess the comments on number of teeth on the flywheel had some interesting responses. I'm from the state that termed the phrase Hillbillys that's why we call it a tooth brush not a teeth brush.

Boy I agree I am an old engine and wish I get to 3000. Looks like this car likes the torque band to 5000 as previously usually shift by 4800 this set up brings it much quicker.

    Timing Considerations

Gentlemen, Had a couple days in the hospital sorry to reply late. Got an old fashion timing light (like me). The flywheel on the 3.5 may have the same number of teeth as the 3.0 need to count. No Meth damage!! I did take the car for a test ride just now, there is a noticeable improvement in...

    Timing Considerations

At 500 RPM the flywheel marks 0° at 1050 RPM flywheel marks about 15° at 2100 RPM at Z mark 22° I noted 8 flywheel teeth between TO and Z mark about 2.75° per tooth that would be about 13 teeth to 36° mark @3000 RPM? Maybe I am getting this? This curve is based upon example from Stevehouse.

    Timing Considerations

Further reading the fly wheel needs to be a TDC mark the rotor points to #1 I will add one additional flywheel mark 1/2 between Z and TO as a 10° mark for reference.

    Timing Considerations

Got the Z mark statically set on the flywheel the rotor should be pointing at the #1 plug wire? Assuming the cam is in proper orientation.

    Timing Considerations

Whilst installing a new dist. I have not used the crankshaft damper timing mark previously as it can only be seen in a static position not with strobe. Aligned the damper mark with the mark on the casting housing. Having established where no. one cylinder fires and assume this is TDC? Then...
