    Rolf Drommer Memorial Harrison Drive

Thanks for the details on that amazing lighting setup! Full high beam activated must be incredible. I can only imagine how useful it is in rural Canada. Regards, Chuck

    Sway bars

I don't recall any dimensional differences between pre and post 1973 cars, but I do see the change to a 23mm front bar as of 09/1973 production (here in the USA that equates to 1974 model year cars and newer). The 23mm bar should fit...not sure why it wouldn't unless it's not for an E3. Back in...

    E3 Lookalike?

My dad considered one along with the Mercedes sedan when looking for what alternatives to a Bavaria might exist back in late 1971. He concluded the Bavaria was the best choice of the three for his desires and ordered one in early 1972...took delivery in April 1972. I do recall him ruling out the...

    The 1970 2800 Project

That's funny...the first thought I had seeing those 2002s was back to 1972 when a friend bought a new 2002 and mounted Carello lights on top of the bumper, and he ended up with the bouncing/shaking lights. He added metal reinforcement plates to cure it. A few years later, I wired up a light...

    The 1970 2800 Project

Right side mirrors simply were uncommon in the time period. My first two cars (Bavaria and Capri II) didn't have them and in fact we didn't have a car with the right side mirror until 1983 when we bought my wife an Audi 4000S. :)

E3 Tail Panel Changes over time

Since a side discussion of Christian's cars evolved in this thread, here's a link to the CCA Foundation's pictures from the main presentation day: https://theultimatedrivingmuseum.org/galleries/wundercar-open-house-02-11-2023/

E3 Tail Panel Changes over time

Back in 2010 my wife and I toured the BMW museum in Munich, and they had a display room at the time for the largest sedans starting with the E3, then E23, E32, E38, etc. I asked an attendant if it was ok if I laid down on their floor and took pictures of the underside of the E3 since I had owned...

E3 Tail Panel Changes over time

No, it wasn't as best I recall from back then.

    Brake Master cylinder:

Ah, got it, thanks. Looks like I was 138 cars away from getting the big one, lol.

    Brake Master cylinder:

Those changes don't necessarily line up with the E3. My 02/1972 build Bavaria 3.0 had the "pancake" style booster, and I'm guessing the entire 1972 model year.

    Brake Master cylinder:

I too recall the different diameter issue from replacing it in the early 80s. It looks like there were two different internal piston diameters depending on which brake booster is used? The "early style" booster shown here is what my 1972 Bavaria had (build date Feb 1972) which has a 22.2mm...

E3 Tail Panel Changes over time

Wundercars! open house event today at the CCA Foundation museum was wunderful! :) The E3s are amazing, immaculate cars. My wife and I were just taken aback over here 50+ years later the incredible better than new condition E3s. The underside of the "New Horizon" 2500 was beyond perfect (it was...

E3 Tail Panel Changes over time

20 minutes away and wouldn't miss it! My father purchased a new Bavaria in 1972, I bought it from him in 1980 and owned it until 1994. Looking forward to hopefully seeing a bunch of E3 enthusiasts at the event.

    1979 320i

I enjoyed about 2 years of E21 ownership in the mid-80s when I bought a heavily modified one to use as a DD so my Bavaria could garage rest between track events. Rust was the problem with my E21. I didn't inspect it enough since it had just been painted I guess plus the price was so good given...

1972-73 Dealership Brochure found on eBay

Dick, My 1972 Bavaria, delivered in April 1972 (3102336), had the Fasten Seat Belt light on the dash from day one (father was original owner). Chuck

Jaguar XJ6 Series 1 vs BMW Bavaria

From the perspective of a new buyer of a 1972 Bavaria, I can relate that my father had zero interest in the Jaguar. His background was mechanical engineering, so he was very impressed with BMWs and loved the way they felt to drive. Plus having a manual transmission was mandatory. My dad ended up...

    E3 Wondercars at Seattle BMW

Fantastic news! Can't wait to see them in February at the Ultimate Driving Museum. It's a fantastic facility, and the current 50 years of M cars on display are incredible.
