Yes - Interesting.....
I used to be into watches. That was before I developed a ganglion cyst on the inside of my left wrist right where my watch band lays. Can't wear a watch any longer. Have a few nice watches that I used to wear - but... not anymore. (It's not my style to wear one on my...
Looking at the new (added) pictures.....
'Light blemishes' in the finish are not good - the pics show there is growing corrosion under the finish. Those two spots are just the first to show. I bet in a year there are a several more. Been there, done that (and now fixed... )
'Carb pic' -...
I predict a RNM -
Looks like the seller is not going to put any effort to provide any meaningful info (no pics of the usual locations, carb type and so on)
In reviewing their selling history, with very few exceptions - all of their listing have been of modern cars and we all know buyers of these...
I went ahead and poked at the seller (a bit) for some of the basic info that I would think folks would want to know.
The seller has listed aver 400 cars on BaT, so - I am a bit disappointed that the description and presentation is a vague as it is....
Here is another one.
Looks like a nice driver quality.
Front bumper delete (with addition of air dam). Rear bumper alignment is off (lateral segment seems horizontal, but the left wing is a bit rotated up IMO)
Not much detail in listing nor pics showing many of the points of interest we'd want...
This goes along with the phrasing widely used in BaT auction descriptions as 'reportedly driven by the little old lady from Pasadena'.... LOL
That takes the liability off BaT and places it on the seller.
To close the E23 part of this story out - I will be driving south on Monday to get the car. Should be home Wednesday.
I had originally planned to fly down and drive it north. But - I chickened out. There was just so much done that I didn't expect that I'd be much more comfortable trailering...
Yes - several of the comments are back up now (but not all - not as of this time anyway). If I recall correctly, this also happened with the auction from the 8-series guy... Alec something.... Comments there were taken down and then brought back.
The car was originally imported to Sweden. Sweden, for some reason, requires a VIN plate in the trunk (or rear of car) in addition to whatever else is there. Not sure that comment survived... LOL
Edit to clarify... I found out about the Sweden thing (regarding the rear VIN tag) via one of...
Speaking of 'moderation' - BaT went through and wiped a ton of comments off the auction as 'non-constructive' - Including those from some of the folks here....
I really don't get their deal. This is not the first time that has happened to an auction I have been following.
Looks great. I did something similar to my 2002 back in 1983 (or thereabouts). See pic.
I got rid of the ashtray and fabricated a sheet steel face that would fill the front of the console top to bottom. I placed cutouts for the hazard switch (in its original location) and new oil pressure...
Many of these cars were brought into CA before the rules became prohibitive. When I was first interested in these cars (mid 1980's) - there were several for sale locally (Monterey Bay Area) that were registered in California. Same with other 'grey market' cars - but then in the very late...
On a related note, I recall a parts search site that queried all the usual parts pages for a given PN and returned with the prices each had for that item....
I don't know if that site is still around or not - but I recall it was pretty nifty. I thought I bookmarked it, but can't find it...
Yes, while not having many comments does tend to keep the BS factor low, the lack of commentary more importantly (IMO) shows the lack of interest in the car - and that is NOT a good thing.
I take the other tact.... I use only ethanol free fuel in all my non-modern cars.... (that is cars younger than 30 years old).
Edit- OLDER than 30 years... LOL
