    World Upholstery - Rubber Parts

Hi all - I happened to be looking at World Upholstery's web site and noticed that they list a bunch of rubber parts for our cars. I don't see them listed in our preferred vendors for this, so I was wondering if anyone has tried them and had a good experience so that maybe we can add them to...

A set of wheels on BaT... With an E9 history.... (In BC, Canada)

There is also a BF Goodrich tire option, and I'm told that the tread design is actually an older Michelin design. The only downside is that they have white lettering on the sidewalls, so you have to mount them with the white lettering on the inside. I think Stan Chamallas is running these on...

A set of wheels on BaT... With an E9 history.... (In BC, Canada)

Hi Jim - yes 205/60s. I have Toyo Versado Noirs on the car now, but they are no longer available. Not sure what I'm going to replace them with. I'm looking at the Michelin Primacy 3 Vintage, which would be a solid (but boring) option at roughly $150 each. Pirelli Cinturato 36s are also...

    Camber/Caster Plates

I have a lot of difficulty with the version on the right getting them to hold position. The through bolts and grooves are not robust enough to deal with the forces involved.

A set of wheels on BaT... With an E9 history.... (In BC, Canada)

I am a fan of 15" wheels on a coupe. I like the fatter sidewall, which I think is more in keeping with the original design of the vehicle, and as compared to larger wheels they transmit less road harshness to the chassis. Here is a comparison of the three most common sizes. My car on left...

    Parts located in NC….e3, e9, e12 etc.

Guys - a handful of us here, along with scores of other fans of older BMWs, have been using Al for parts for years. In addition to having a huge supply and fair prices, he knows a lot about which parts we should be looking for. By way of example, I am running b35 exhaust manifolds in my car...

Alas, I too am unable to make Sharkfest this year. I recommend it highly; great group of people.

    1970 - 2800cs on Hemmings - in Miami

This is a very odd data set. Macha's car sold for $146,000 18 months ago, yet the high sale in this data over the past five years was $80,800? This would tell me that this is not the place you want to market your coupe if you are selling it. Just so folks know when attempting to follow e9...

Great book. We have a pdf of this in our published sources section https://e9coupe.com/tech/autobooks/autobooks_manual.pdf, but hard copy is preferable.

    Just Dashes

Yes, but you should get more than what you paid for the ratty parts when you sell your not so ratty parts. And since prices are going up all the time, you likely will be able to get more for them after your repaired dash returns than you can get today.

    possible failing alternator advice

Wayne - As I recall from our Monterey trip, and Macha's emergency repair, you don't have an external voltage regulator, which means you don't have an AL45X alternator. An external voltage regulator would be mounted on the fender, whereas your voltage regulator is mounted outside the alternator...

    Recommendations for Parts?

These taxes are set forth in various laws, and have nothing to do with any particular vendor. VAT is imposed by several jurisdictions outside the US, primarily in Europe, and in order to hide it from consumers, is built into the stated price of goods offered for sale. VAT, however, does not...

    What's Reasonable Time at Mechanic

A fair number of old school mechanics don't talk on the phone much. And they don't do email/internet at all. Think about the owner's situation. He's got to work on the more complex problems and run the business. Timing on your project could be impacted by your car, his workload on the more...

    2800 CS differential or not?

If you divide 38 by 11 you get 3:45. This is the ratio of the number of teeth on the pinion gear (11) to the number of teeth on the ring gear (38). BMW did ship differentials with 0% lockup. If you look inside the top hole, you can see the carrier, but when disassembled, they have spacers...

Seeking drive shaft center bearing alignment advice

From looking at it, it appears that one side of the mount came loose and moved forward, perhaps because of too much pre-load. Can you run the car in gear and observe the driveshaft for wobble or play, perhaps on a two post lift?

    Just Dashes

I believe Paul Cain has used them in the past, and found that the recovered dash was difficult to install because the recovered dashes are thicker than stock. You may want to get in touch with Paul for details (and in case my memory is faulty).

I'm also told that the later seats have a slightly longer base (https://e9coupe.com/forum/threads/anyone-use-seat-covers-from-lseat-com.36618/post-310139), and the headrests are different on the later seats.

    2800 CS differential or not?

Yes, the differentials need a certain amount of torque before they will lock.

Renovating my garage. Any thoughts are appreciated.

That picture X atlas posted brings up another great idea. Curtains that you can open and close are very effective at sound deadening. You could, for example, install a set of curtains that you can close over your garage door openings for sound deadening when listening to music. When I built...
