After reading this thread, I pulled one pair of front pads and, no surprise, two frozen pistons. Ordered parts - disassembled, and found it very difficult to clean the stains from the inside of the caliper. Is that a "hard chrome" finish in there? The pistons where equally nasty but cleaned well with brake clean, a polish with "Nox

on" and then a very lite buffing with White Rouge, followed by another wash with brake clean to remove any polish compound. Although the pistons now seem to work and feel fine in the calipers, I would like to remove all the stain, any ideas?

i mentioned that i used scotch-brite, but be gentle while cleaning these remove too much and you will create a problem, no need to use polish compound

my impact tool was indeed not capable getting them loose…. but a simple allen key and a BIG hammer did the job with the disc on my lap :)

i am using this paste from ate to install the pistons on the calipers, it helps smoothing the introducction of the pistons and avoids rusting, and it is fully compatible with DOT4 brake fluid

only a thin layer around the piston prior to assembly, works really well

today we made a very spectacular job

so i sanded and chromed the hubs

now the idea was to introduce the bearing rings

usual way is to use a press and help the new rings with the lod ones, but we had a plan,...

some nitrogen in a big bottle, a big show,...

once cold down to 200 deg negative you can simply drop the ring in its place, amazing !

the rings remaining in the box are the old ones, see the new ones in their place already

prepare the rear area,

09DD5ED3-4A6C-4810-9F2F-55D11F21C375.jpeg

and new rear disks

you know but it is always a surprise when you can not introduce the new rear disks as you have to close the hand brake shoes a bit, yeah,...
