Hi! I have made a gearbox swap from Automatic to Getrag 265 CR
Crossmember 23 71 1 175 731
Rubber mount 23 71 1 175 732
BUT. Problem with gearbox "bumping" into transmission- tunnel during acceleration.
Wrong parts or do I have to prepare the tunnel by making it wider/higher? Best Regards/wolfram

look at the fit and clearance at top
if need be space down the bracket
also is it the box or linkage?
i have an adjustable linkage tower to push up to fit
im sure you have the pad above to the tunnel hole

Just install the new version from CK.
Problem solved.
The 5speed bracket was a kluge from day one.

A little spendy yes, but I think it makes the conversion look like it was born there. Worth it IMHO:

I see the exhaust hangar is unattached, doe the CK muffler system not use this mount location? Only the manifolds, 2 at the rear can, and the exhaust tip one? I want this tranny support!

i think this is just a pic for selling them - the linkage isn't hooked up on the tranny either.

good fit
but way too expensive for a simple mount
there the pic make your own
go ahead ... i think there is some fitting / engineering that took place on this ... and life is too short to worry about a few bucks. it works, its solid and its figured out.

Funny thing is the rubber support that is engineered for CK support is Febi for another bmw.
Cost is 1/10 the price

Glad to hear, I thought I would have to shift gears by sticking my finger into the transmission tunnel hole...

Thanx for tips.
Feels a little heavy to go for a new set of parts after buying the above mentioned.
It feels after all like a question of height. I'll have to find shorter rubberbushings, nicht wahr?

Wolfram, do you only get the problem when you accelerate reasonably hard in first gear, a thump thump noise?

Cheers. John

It's shifter mount base rear support.
Shifter mount base in 5-speed Getrag is shorter, than 4-speed Getrag and is mounted only on two bolts to the gearbox (vs four bolts in 4-speed Getrag) so it have additional ear mount on the back side, so was rigid when gears changing.
