So, as part of my project (http://www.e9coupe.com/forum/threads/bmw-3-0-csi-being-restored-in-ireland.25097/) my 1974 CSi needs a radiator refurb.

Speaking with a company in Dublin, my options are;

Refurb existing radiator (paint, etc and replace cores with 2 x high efficiency cores) - EUR398

as per above but adding a third core - €498

I note that I can purchase alloy rads on EBay, but don't think I want to do that. Any thoughts on above options or indeed better alternatives? Price from a UK company for the 2 core job was GBP260 + VAT + Shipping in both directions, so probably no cheaper than having the work done in Dublin...

why not order a new one from W+N - 2 versions, one for manual tranny + AC, the other without AC ... 243 euros or 205 euros plus shipping.

Sounds like a great option. Can you send me a link to W+N? I can't find them..

I was deeply disappointed in the one I bought from them. Ended up giving it away.
No holes at top or bottom for fan shroud.
Recessed core with top sheet metal that caught fan blade
Wrong angle on top neck.

EXCELLENT information Don ... thanks for sharing your experience. Ian, i would recommend that you quickly ignore my thought of W+N.

Don, how are new ones from BMW?

I have an eBay alloy radiator that I painted black, works great, inexpensive, and you can lift it out of the car with 2 fingers. Not original looking to the trained eye, but the peace of mind is good since I drive my car a lot.

Thanks for this. Can you send me a link to one available on EBay at the moment? I want to ensure that I am looking at the right one. Also, can you confirm that it arrived ready to fit, i.e, no drilling, etc?

No this is the one and only item I have purchased from RogersTii, it was an NOS shroud that I couldn't find elsewhere, I think e12's fit, maybe others. It required some grinding down at the bottom to fit.

I like your shroud Steve, was that also from Ebay?

The radiator needed no modifications, it is a little thinner so I had to shim it into it's bottom holders with a small piece of cut radiator hose. The shroud required some grinding down at the bottom to fit.

As for paint, I am assuming Zinc Chromate primer followed by High temp Satin?

Hi, Wallothnesch.com advise that this radiator is not designed for a fan shroud....
