Way back when the CS Register was a paper pub edited by Charlie Richardson, Charlie bought a wrecked one-off Frua coupe. The back issues of the CS Register are posted here:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B1QYF5vIO2Q-MDgzZDllYWEtNzE1ZS00MjZmLTkzNjAtZDZlMDNiMWY3ZTRh

One of Charlie's articles about the car -- when he had to sell it -- is in the issue "1987 Vol 4-2.pdf" (4th row down, last one on the right).

I've searched here for "Frua" and see that a few other folks remember this and are asking the same question.

Any leads? Or is it hidden behind the same wall with the James Dean death car?

Stan, it may be possible you saw the Glas Frua Coupe, which looks just like it. It was offered in an auction in Italy this year, the price went to 200K Euros but it did not meet reserve.

I know of two of these. The well documented silver one and the red one in a garage in I believe Europe. For more pictures search BMW 2002 GT4. More info here: http://www.bmw2002.co.uk/history-of-the-02/gt4/
Andrew,
This is another Frua BMW:
1969 BMW 2002 GT4 Frua Coupé
history and photos oon my website: www.pietro-frua.de/1969_bmw2002.htm
Two cars have been built:
comm 361: original silver, now red, unrestored, presently in the Sakai city collection in Japan,
comm. 361/2: original blueish silver, now silver, restored, in the BMW Classic collection in Munich, Germany

Charlie Richardson's 1971 BMW 2800 GTS Frua Coupé (comm. 350/3) is lost sice Charlieˋs ad in 1987.
see my website for the history of this car and its two sister cars:
www.pietro-frua.de/1969_bmw2800.htm#Comm.%20350/3
The photo taken by Pietro Frua shows 350/3 when it was new in Turin.

So the intro question of this thread remains still unanswered: Anyoune know the fate of 350/3? Any hints or ideas are welcome.

what a beautiful car!

Couldn't agree more, simply stunning. These cars always Remind me of the Iso Grifo's and the Maserati Ghibli's for me two of the most beautiful cars ever produced.

As to your question Stefan, I don't know the owner but based upon what I heard it was sold to somebody in Belgium.

I have done my homework and found Charlie Richardson. He sent me the photo below, showing his 1971 BMW 2800 GTS Frua Coupé (comm. 350/3), when he received it on 21st November 1982. Unfortunately he cannot remember, who got the car in 1988/89. So the chances to find the car disappeared. :(
