Intake question

Will anything be accomplished in terms of increased performance if the intake manifold open ins pictured below are machined to remove the bump inside the plenum of each arm?

Not if your head has the matching protrusion. You'd get into some reversion problems. The design of the top of the intake runner is important in getting the incoming mixture around the corner and into the valve efficiently.

Fluid dynamics has been discussed on this board before. As long as there has been die grinders and internal combustion engines, there will be a desire to try one on the other. Short of redesigning the entire intake path and cylinder head, agree with other opinions regarding this specific modification.

You never know . . . there may still be room for improvement? :wink:
