Hi

Having a brain fade here today, trying to put on a hood support that I picked up here and I just can't remember which way it goes on. Can anyone take a picture of the proper position of the hood support to the hood and from which way the tension should be on the 2 arms. It can go in 4 different ways, left or right or upside down???

Help get me past my old age and figure this out

Thanks, Rick

Hi Mauler,

Welcome to the E9 Board, the pictures are just what I was looking for. Double check yours right in the right angle weld at the cross pipe to the arms They tend to crack there, if you can catch it earlier enough, you can reweld them.

Thanks, Rick

Hello All! There is a hood open support bracket being offered on German EBay right now. It's sandblasted and powder coated and currently at 1€, with NO offer! eBay listing # 172410002996.

I think this is the hood / bonnet support I bought, which didn't fit. I think it might be from an '02, or possibly an E3 by comparing to pictures online. The seller in Germany sent me a replacement, but frustratingly the replacement is now too short by over an inch, even though it looks identical to my original. Has anybody any idea what car this could be from ? from looking online, it seems that it could be from a 2000CS. I think I'm going to have to make my own now by using the torsion bars and arms, but with a thicker and hopefully improved, tube. The lesson is don't take someone else's word that something will fit your car !

I carry a curtain tension rod (extendable tube within a tube) with me for windy days. Prop it between the hood light and the heater blower cover. Helps prevent decapitation of onlookers.

That is good to know. Thanks for the insights!

when i had a bavaria, i kept a piece of 1/2" quarter round wood ... rode on top of the heater air inlet (under the hood). i sold the bavaria 23 years ago ... i saw the quarter round in the garage this past weekend. had to laugh when i read this about a curtain rod ...
