Just another Sunday in Texas... Ford GT sporting Gulf livery and 45 pounds of boost on methanol ran 293.6 mph in the standing mile... the down-track video sounds amazing.

Wow, was it windy that day too. Quite amazing. Glad I wasn't in that car.

How in the world could you predict the aero on a car going 50% above its nominal top speed! Totally nuts

I agree! I posted this on FAQ and I made the comment that the acceleration curve was probably pretty flat in the last 1/4 mile and the aero was likely the limiting factor on top speed...my guess anyways.

My buddy runs an all electric '68 Mustang at these events. His first runs near 170mph were a bit sketchy... front end was very, very light. He now has the coilovers as low as possible, a big splitter and a funnycar style wing on the deck. Still scary...
