It was now time to come to a complete stop from triple digit speeds--easier said than done.
We must have covered at least 1/2 mile...maybe closer to (1) as I brought the coupe into reality. All the while sweeping right until a small patch of shoulder appeared. Much like landing a overweight 747 with precious cargo.....I 'touched-down' across the solid white line and put the wheels of the coupe to rest.
There was a street light which I had over-shot by about 30 feet.....this would give me ample light to explain my story--but not too much....
I decided to leave the coupe running and she responded with her usually curious idle: cusp!bang!tik!sip!repeat....... cusp!bang!tik!sip!repeat.....
Brake dust had escaped from my Ferodo semi-racing compounds up into the 'air' -- there was now an aura of intrigue.......
The officer walked slowly and steadily to my door. He took a sharp glance from the very 'tip' of the hood all the way to the taillights sizing up my machine no doubt.
A short man peered in to say: 'You passed me going over 100 mph back there......did you not see me!?'.......
My reluctant answer: "No."
Our final part of our story next time....
Thanks for reading,
