chroming, bringing parts back to life

thanks to a friend i got a set of four chrome lateral parts, the ones that go around the window line, door and rear panel, they hold the weatherstrips

these are already owned by a coupe, more tan 40 years use



you can see pitting, scratchs,...very difficult to remove the rubber pieces in the door ones, rubber got soild and cracked every time i pulled them out

so sand blasting comes first



then polishing



they are still yellow, but shine has come back




the chrome process is finished



now ready...;-))

nice thing, this place is very close to my house, i have to refrain from chroming all the car parts,...;-)

another example, i finally found the door handle mechanisms, the ones with lead weights

they were very dirty and not in good condition, so i brough them to sand blast and matt chrome this time:









the nice thing is that they do not have to remove the parts from the assembly to chrome them

I really like that matt chrome finish. I think you used it on another part a while ago. I hadnt heard of it before then.
