After a few months of research I am getting close to the point of actually making these aluminum wind deflectors (or as Execmalibu saya, noise generators)

Finding a spring manufacturer who could make these has been time consuming. The first one wanted about $40.00 per spring if I committed to purchase 50 springs!

Next, reverse engineering required me to obtain a complete wind deflector which was likewise time consuming and nearly futile until HBChris came to the rescue.

The fins of the wind deflector will be aircraft grade aluminum. The plastic guides will be machined. The original hinges were pot metal and likely the weak link. We will try to make them from billet aluminum for durability.

Until they are actually made and test fitted, the sell price cannot be firmly established BUT if I can make them ask $425.00 would there be any takers?

Deflectors in production

Well, I have to admit that ExecMalibu warned me... The production of these wind deflectors has been anything but simple.

So far the deflector fins have been cut and polished for 4 complete wind deflectors.

The hinges were made from billet aluminum and take about 5 hours a pair for the machine to cut, This is because the machine must cut fine details slowly. Original L repro R

Looks like we will be able to sell them for $425.00 which will include springs, hinges, plastic guides, and the L R and center deflector parts. You will need to instal these parts to the base parts that is part of your existing sunroof.

Who is in? I would like to make 25 sets.

Hi Stan,

Would you be able to spare a couple of plastic guides to replace the missing ones on my deflector?

Thanks.

Plastic Guides

Hi Stan,

Thanks.

Len

Right now we are making enough for the entire kit but I hope to make more so the can be sold individually. Seems like the smaller the part, the more difficult to make

No problem; let me know...

I'm lucky to have the deflector, but those few missing glides are driving me crazy.

Great work!

Deflector

Heya Stan,
I have one of the original Golde wind deflector on my car. The drivers side spring broke along with one of the hinges, so I replaced the whole piece with a brand new part from the local Porsche dealer. 260 bucks for 1/3 of a deflector and the base is chrome (ugh) but it was the only option I thought I had. I just wanted to wanted to opine that your pricing is more than reasonable and your design looks dead on identical. Great Work! I'll probably be begging you for some replacement parts to buy when they become available.
Regards
Kingman

This is the aluminum deflector with the hinges in place with the plastic guides.

These are hinges with the plastic guides. Very nice replicas!

If I have enough I will sell the hinges and plastic guides individually.

Still await delivery of torsion springs
Once they arrive I will install on my car and from the process create an installation instruction sheet

The Springs have arrived

i had to accept a run of 50 springs for them to reproduce.
I will be selling the springs alone for $20.00 each if anyone needs some
