I have changed the guibo on my drive shaft and I thought there was an updated one to use rather than the old "big one" that has the band around it for installation. I have tried one off a later e24 i think, only the one I have seems to be to thin (like 29 mm) and isnt giving enough clearence from the shaft to the flange on the trannny. I think there needs to be more like 32 - 35mm in thickness to clear it.

Anybody know off hand? And a part # would be a bonus!

Yeah there were different thickness donuts

depends on your car, and whether manual or auto trans.

All in all, get what's correct. Donuts are about $40 IIRC.

You sorta need the band to somewhat compress the bugger during install so the bolts will slide through, but it can be done without the band if you're handy with a jack. Remove band before driving off.
