    Front driveshaft for '73 3.0CS 4-speed to 5-speed conversion

Planning to replace my 4 speed with a 5 speed (OD) transmission. Is having the front driveshaft shortened the best route to go? Or are shortened one already available? (Don't particularly want to use the front of an automatic because it appears that is not really the best match.) What else do I...

Better than "OK"! Nice job, Paul. Did you use 3M 550 or 770 adhesive?

    123 distributor conversion, '73 CS

Would I be correct believing if I replace my stock distributor with a 123 that I no longer need the ceramic resistor in the circuit?

    I find none.

    Gertag 5 speed ID

I bought this transmission several years ago. The paper label that was on it has deteriorated. Can anyone tell me by looking at the case if this is a 5 speed with an OD? (I looked at all of the transmission pictures in Media tab, but none is labeled as to what they are.) I realize I can figure...

    Trunk (boot) "fairings"

Jeff, this is great. I wonder if perhaps adding a cloth backing to the vinyl might be a good idea. It might give it a little more 'substance.' jim

    Trunk (boot) "fairings"

You all know the people on this forum much better than I do, so I need to ask, is "Christoph" @HB Chris? If so, I did not know he sold E9 products, and would like to be educated. I believe I now understand that the pieces I am wanting to reproduce were flexible, and that might answer my...

    Trunk (boot) "fairings"

inasmuch as I have nothing to look at, was this super thin foam common to both US and European cars? I have been wondering how I might get a rather rigid piece of vinyl-covered board in the openings. We they glued to the fenders?

    Trunk (boot) "fairings"

That sounds good to me. If I am correct (that may be a big *if*), the left side is a mirror image of the right side, without the cutout for the fuel inlet. How do we proceed? I don't know what differences there are between the US and Euro versions.

    Trunk (boot) "fairings"

I would like to reproduce these two pieces for my USA '73 CS. Mine are nowhere to be found. As noted elsewhere, CS Werk only ships within Germany. If someone were to provide a template (e.g. on a large piece of paper) I would be very grateful. Or might it be possible to create a grid document...

'73 3.0CS Rear Caliper Rebuild-Piston R&R, Orientation, Dust Boot Replacement

You are correct that splitting the halves is not recommended. I have new seals for the channels. I did it because I do not believe I could have gotten the pistons out otherwise. I am going to reuse the bolts and hope for the best. There are places that will rebuild the calipers and I am pretty...

'73 3.0CS Rear Caliper Rebuild-Piston R&R, Orientation, Dust Boot Replacement

Elementary? Maybe step-by-step narrative will help someone else. 1. Piston removal. One of the two pistons would not budge after removing the caliper. Solution: put the caliper back on the car with the pads removed, reattach the brake line, insert some wood shims so the piston that DOES move...

    Rear caliper rebuild questions

@deQuincy, this? Words would help me, such as "Depress pistons into bores and add dust boot and retainer rings.: (if that's accurate.) Or would this be the way?

    Rear caliper rebuild questions

Is there some trick to get the dust boot to seat into the groove (and stay there) so the steel retainer ring can be installed? The piston is extended out of the bore a bit. Should it be pushed in as deeply as possible to get dust boot into the correct position?

    Rear caliper rebuild questions

This might be old to many of you, but here goes. I have several questions about rebuilding the rear calipers on my 73 3.0CS with vented rotors. 1. I got rebuild kits FTE RKS4202. Perhaps @Denis1967 has answered the question about the piston seal taking a set, but the new seals look to have a...

    D-jet connector

Volvo uses the same connectors, and since they don't have BMW stamped on them (either literally or figuratively) they are about 50% the cost of what you would pay via a BMW supplier.
