    Brake Booster Replacement

Yep, The remote systems are a rubbish, may have been OK in the 70's but by today's standards (or even the late 80's for that matter) they are terrible hence they way I'm going. I really like having good brakes, they are a big part of the driving experience for me, I dislike mine so much I really...

    Brake Booster Replacement

Hi, No, I bought all the parts but have decided to go a different route now. I have decided to go even a bit more modern in what I'm doing and use a conventional booster (in this case from a Alfa 166 (booster is smallish diameter but double diaphragm)) mount this on the LH side of the engine...

    Brake caliper piston diameter

Here’s a picture of the wooden mock up support brackets for the bearings and rotating cross bar, I’ve been drawing and cutting these on my CNC router here at work, so when I’m happy with the final design I can just take the drawing files to get the bits cut out in steel. Next mission is to go...

    Brake caliper piston diameter

Hi all, long time away from the group, haven’t been doing much down here in NZ with my coupe apart from a few drives to cars and coffee now and then. It’s winter down here, and the coupe is tucked up in the garage and so it’s time to sort my brakes out once and for all, I will post my project...

Hi, Have a read of this, I had the same problem and eventually sorted it. Was it you I was talking to on the E9 facebook page? http://www.e9coupe.com/forum/threads/driveline-shudder.17913/page-2#post-126855 Steve

    ST swaybar mounts

I had the same problem when I fitted my big bar. In the end I cut the bit with the little slot in it off the sub frame and had some (4mm?) plates welded to on so I could use a 2 bolt saddle. The rear saddle bolt uses the standard bolt hole and the front bolt hole on the saddle hangs out the...

Hydroboost instead of vacuum for brakes?

I'm collecting the bits to do the BMW hydro boost conversion right now, will be doing this sometime next year when I do my engine swap. As my car is a RHD there is a bit more plumbing to be done, so engine out will be much easier.

What did you do to your E9 today?

Will do, Am away for the next 3 weeks in Europe, will sort the master cyl when I get back. When I commit to the install I will have to have all my ducks in a row as there is a fair bit of work to do and I don't want the car of the road for to long over our up coming summer. Basically so far I...

What did you do to your E9 today?

Received all my new engine bits from Ireland Eng toady, new 144mm conrods, 11.1 Ross racing pistons, ARP bolts etc etc. Also now nearly collected all the bits I need for the Hydro boost brake booster conversion, Just a new master cyl now and I will have all the bits needed.

What did you do to your E9 today?

Bought e24 hydro boost system yesterday from the dismantlers for my brake up grade project, also recently changed oil to Redline MTL in the dogleg box (Unbelievably better) and also in the middle of modifying my UCC short shifter back to a standard (ish) shifter ratio, The Dogleg box really does...

    Brake Booster Replacement

I'm about to do a hydro boost conversion on my car. Mine is a RHD and the brakes are horrible because of the remote boosters and I can't stand the brakes like this any longer. The terrible peddle feel really detracts from the whole driving experience.

    Full Prep and Repaint Cost

My painter told me when I did my coupe that is was 200hrs for primer, blocking and paint only. So if they charged $50 pr hr (pretty normal rate here in NZ, even a bit low for some shops), your 10k in labour + the materials which are expensive so the 12k seems about right to me, but I would...

    Bimmer Magazine (CSL w/M6)

Interesting comment on the windscreens not fitting and being a bad batch. Maybe I had one of these as the new one I got from BMW didn't fit by a country mile. Ended up in the skip bin.

    Ireland Engineering, something not right....maybe??

Hi all, Just wanted to check if anyone has had dealings with Ireland lately? I have an order in with them for parts and they had sent me a Paypal request but this was then reversed and my acc credited. I have talked on the phone to Flavio Andrade about my order after this happened and he...
