'70 E9 hot rod on Bat

Market has pulled back in the last year. There are a lot of cool cars you can buy for 164k. You could have both a fine 3.0 CS and an excellent E46 M3 for that sum.

Southeast Sharkfest 2024 - Richmond, VA

Addendum. I see you are staying in Short Pump--644, called Millers Lane, is a pretty road that runs through Manakin Sabot.

Southeast Sharkfest 2024 - Richmond, VA

This is my hometown, but I will be out west that weekend, so I can't make it. Monument Avenue has beautiful homes ( and a few monuments). The state capitol building was designed by Jefferson and is lovely. I also recommend a tour of Agecroft Hall and or the Virginia House. The Virginia...

    What's Reasonable Time at Mechanic

This is fairly typical. I would advise that you ask what method of communication he would prefer. I always email my mechanic, so as not to disrupt his work flow. It's fair to ask for a short email update after the car has been there for four weeks.

    CSL - differences during production

Hi Scott. I will bite. Mine was likely born city pack. Rear windows are fixed, but glass not plexiglass. No power steering or windows. But it did have hood pins. There was no provision for any kind of internal hood latch. No passageway for the cable exists. Car has been restored at...

    Randy Noonenberg?BAT good taste

Yes, we are all adults here. And you and I understand the issue. And there may be workarounds, but there may not be either. And the rules about importing old cars that will be driven very little are silly. Vintage cars contribute almost nothing to air pollution, because so few miles are...

    Randy Noonenberg?BAT good taste

This is all lawyered-up language from the corporate parent, as you know. Hearst has plenty of lawyers. It always amuses me when they say “refurbishment” rather than restoration. There can be photo evidence of every nut and bolt refinished, and they still use the word. I think Randy and...

    BAT: 1972 BMW 3.0 CSL

I did not know that, but boy that is not smart on the seller's part. The evidence is all there on the internet.

    BAT: 1972 BMW 3.0 CSL

Wrong day, I guess. It's a pretty nice city pack CSL. That last nice silver CSi that sold for 180k recently tells me that this is worth more.

    Palm Royale E9

Rolls Corniche or Bentley (Azure) convertible. I had never heard of this show but looked it up. Leslie Bibb is from my hometown and lived on my wife's hall at UVA. Then she won a modeling contest and dropped out to pursue that and eventually Hollywood. Guess we will be watching it.

    How the Addiction Started

My addiction started with my mom's oddball cars. They had to be front wheel drive, for the snow, and they had to be automatic. So the first car I remember was a 1973 Audi 100LS two door, in brown. Then a VW Dasher, and then an Audi Coupe GT. I found the latter in the classifieds, it was...

Present-day values of German classic sports cars

1950s Alfas are doing even worse than the Germans lately. Two 1900CSS coupes, both nice, failed to break 200k in recent weeks. RNM. More modern cars are hanging in there. 1950s not so much. For modern drivers, they are very slow, while a Ferrari 550 Maranello, for example, still feels fast...

    Euro 1974 BMW 3.0CSi 4-Speed

There are barriers to moving a pre 1976 car into California. If you own it and move your residency and the car from another state to CA, you can do it. But to bring it into the country and directly try to register in CA, there are problems I think.

    RIP Mark Starr

Apparently he passed away suddenly in the middle of this BaT auction. I did not know him, but he was a big proponent of coupes 10-15 years ago, when a good one was 30k. He had vision and appreciation for coupes. And Lotus. Very sad. Live every day to the fullest...

Our friends coupe was stolen yesterday….

My niece had my sister's 1990 Miata, bought by my sister new in 1990 after her first bonus at Oracle, stolen in 2022 from her driveway when she was at Cal. Car had 250,000 miles and was a cool family heirloom. Such a bummer.

Our friends coupe was stolen yesterday….

@sfdon, so the air tags are in a place where they would be nearly impossible to find and remove. But the person knows an air tag is present. Hmmm. I need to do this for my cars. Do the tags rattle around when you drive? Also, I have used Moultrie "game" cameras, meant to take photos of...
