You can buy a new console for less than $200. I know, I bought one.
Are shift knobs that much money? Ditto the boot and the used silver switch plate.

Not even close to being worth $600. And they can keep the homemade shift knob and handbrake cover.
I need one but this is too much
NMNA. On German eBay (search under BMW E9) there is a company called CS Werke that sells some E9 interior parts to include brand new shifter consoles with leather boot for both, manual and automatics. Price is around €290

No way, I bought a new one from Carl two or three years ago and from memory it was less than $200, check with LJI first ....
Haha the sarcasm was strong with my first post. This thread is purely for entertainment. I think I sold mine for $30.
